What is Crown and Counsel?
Crown and Counsel is a narrative strategy game with a twist. You rule a medieval kingdom by solving the problems your advisor presents to you.
There are no choice buttons. You type your commands in plain english, and the AI narrator generates every problem, interprets every decision, and crafts every consequence.
How to play?
- Receive counsel. Your AI counselor will give you an issue. You can command anything you wish to your counselor, and it will happen. Such as: 'Send the army to clear the bandits!'.
- Face the Consequences. The AI World Simulator narrates the outcome of your decision, telling a short story about its impact on the realm.
- Balance the Realm. Your actions directly affect your kingdom's four core stats: Religion, Respect, Military, and Money. If any stat hits zero, your reign is over!
- At the end of the game, the AI will show how your reign went, your important decisions, and what kind of a ruler you were.
AI as a pillar!
Instead of using AI as a background tool, Crown and Counsel makes it the core of the game loop:
- Dynamic Problems. Every crisis is generated by the AI, ensuring no two playthroughs are the same.
- Natural Language Input – The AI understands your typed commands, offering true freedom instead of pre-written choices.
Reactive World – The AI narrator acts as a "game master," judging your solutions, applying stat changes, and creating a personalized story of the consequences.
Future Possibilities!
This is just the start! Here are a few directions the game could grow:
- Recurring Characters – Introduce petitioners and rivals with their own AI-driven personalities and long-term goals instead of just the advisors.
- Generational Play – When one reign ends, the next monarch could inherit the kingdom shaped by the previous players legacy. The player can see the long impact their previous decisions made.
The game was developed in unity, for Player2, It's Alive! AI NPC Jam.
